Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Overwatch Map Hitting PS3 on March 29, 2012
There’s no questioning the fact that since originally hitting the market in 2003 the Call of Duty franchise has become the de facto first person shooter title across just about every platform. Love it or hate it, the sales numbers don’t lie with demand for the franchise seeing a considerable boost with Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and continuing all the way up to the most recent title, Modern Warfare 3.
Due to this massive hype, demand and popularity it shouldn’t come as much of a surprise that Activision has effectively netted boat loads of cash. To put things in perspective, Modern Warfare 3 sold 6.5 million copies in 24 hours in the US and UK alone grossing a massive $400 million.
However, to think that Activision is satisfied with this revenue would be foolish as they’ve been known to release a massive amount of downloadable content even launching a paid-for premium service dubbed Call of Duty Elite.
If you’re a PS3 user (who also subscribers to the Elite service) wondering when you can get your hands on the latest downloadable map dubbed Overwatch, you’re in luck. It’s just been made known today that such users will be able to download said map come March 29th. If you get a chance to check it out be sure to let us know what you think in the comments.
On a side note, for those who aren’t familiar with Call of Duty Elite or how much it costs: One year’s worth of membership is available for $49.99 to both PS3 and Xbox 360 users. Subscribers to the service will be given access to all Modern Warfare 3 DLC that is released during this period along with access to a wide array of features that any Call of Duty diehard wouldn’t want to miss. PS3 Laptop Appears on eBay
If you’re familiar with Ben Heck, you already know the deal. If not, he’s a video game modding mad genius who throws together everything from PS1 handhelds to Atari 2600 handhelds. However, one of his most highly sought after projects is a PS3 laptop but due to the fact that he rarely sells said projects, the chances of getting your hands on one remain slim to none.
Luckily, a PS3 laptop made by Ben Heck was given away as a prize. Sure, the winner could have kept the creation but it’d make a lot more sense to plop it on eBay which is exactly what he did.
Of course, the current bid is at $2,500 with 9 days remaining so unless you’re willing to drop some serious cash for a somewhat portable PS3, don’t even bother.
