Analyst: Project Natal to cost $50

With the seemingly advanced technology featured in Project Natal, many have assumed it to be a high priced device. However, industry analyst Michael Pachter has recently let us know that he thinks Natal will cost just $50 when it ships later this year.

News comes his Pach-Attack show over at GameTrailers where he states the fact that Microsoft isn’t trying to make any money off of Natal but will instead try to get everyone to use it. Because, once everyone has it Microsoft will be able to shower us with all sorts of software that they will then make money on.

Unfortunately, Michael Pachter has no affiliation with Microsoft so we’ll have to wait until official word is given before we pass final judgement.

Check out the episode of Pach-Attack that we mentioned above after the break.

Xbox 360's answer to the Wii: Project Natal

Sure, the Wii is cool with its accelerometer touting Wiimote but Micrsoft has recently come forth and put their newest project on display during E3 ’09: Project Natal.

As you can see in its debut trailer (featured above), Project Natal will do everything the Wii does and more, all without any peripherals besides a camera developed by 3DV. Utilizing this technology Microsoft hopes to let gamers do everything from playing racing and fighting games to flipping through movies and participating in video chats using nothing more than motion and vocals recorded by the camera.

Unfortunately, as the video states in the begining, Project Natal remains a concept as of now so putting a release date or price to it would be impossible.

Live demonstration of Project Natal included after the break.
