Mario Creator Shigeru Miyamoto Working on New Original Title

When it comes to hard hitting exclusives it’s hard to compare to Nintendo. Coming out of Nintendo’s labs are franchises that went on to become household names such as Mario, Kirby, Zelda, Donkey Kong and much more. However, while the company has continued to expand on these franchises it seems that Shigeru Miyamoto, the mastermind behind franchises like Mario, Zelda, Donkey Kong, wants to stray from the well worn path just a bit.

According to Miyamoto, he’s currently at work at creating a brand new original title. If we were to make an educated guess we would say that Miyamoto is looking to introduce a brand new franchise to live on Nintendo’s consoles alongside the already successful above mentioned franchises.

What exactly will this new franchise be, you ask? At this point that’s anyone’s guess but as always we’ll keep you posted.

New The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword Gameplay Video

Originally making its debut in 1986 on the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) Zelda has gone on to become one of Nintendo’s most recognizable franchises right up there with Super Mario Bros., Kirby and the like. Of course, things have come quite a way since the 8-Bit days of the original Legend of Zelda with Nintendo gearing up to launch the franchise’s second Wii iteration The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword.

This game was shown off heavily during Nintendo’s E3 ’10 keynote and is to take advantage of the more precise Wii Motion Plus controllers. Thanks to this technology players will be able to slice and dice their way through waves of baddies in a more realistic manner rather than the waggle to slash type gameplay we saw in Twilight Princess.

Well, whatever your views are on playing a Zelda game with motion controls there’s no doubt that the game is sure to be a hit with its November 20th releas quickly approaching. If you’re on the edge whether or not you want to dive in head first check out the gameplay video included after the break that gives you a look at the game’s visuals and some gameplay. Unfortunately unless you can speak Japanese you won’t know what’s going on here but at least you will be given an idea what to expect when the game drops on November 20th.

Diablo 3 to Appear on Video Game Consoles

BlizzCon ’11 is well underway and already we’ve been gifted with a wealth of information. Thus far, we’ve learned of Diablo 3′s limited Edition, World of Warcraft’s next expansion and even the fact that yearly WoW subscribers will be able to net Diablo 3 free of charge. But, if you were to think the announcements would end there you would be terribly mistaken as Blizzard has one again taken center stage to give future Diablo 3 addicts something to look forward to.

Fans of the series will know that the only platform supported over the years is, of course, the PC. Well, if you couldn’t already guess, Blizzard is looking to change all of that by extending support to popular video game consoles. Yes, that does mean you will be able to play the highly anticipated game from the comfort of your couch thanks to the efforts of a newly founded console team at Blizzard.

As of now, the company has not disclosed any information as to what consoles the game will appear on. But, they did take this time to reaffirm their dedication of heavily supporting consoles. Does this mean we will see other popular Blizzard properties such as World of Warcraft and StarCraft hit consoles? Possibly, but only time will tell for sure.

Nintendo 3DS Release Date, Pricing To Be Announced On September 29th

There has been a lot of buzz circulating regarding the Nintendo 3DS. If you haven’t heard about it, it’s Nintendo’s latest portable console that is essentially the same thing as the Nintendo DS but features an upper screen capable of displaying 3D content with no 3D glasses, and twin cameras for taking 3D pictures.

Seeing how such seemingly high tech gadgetry is jammed in to one device, the hype is no surprise.

Unfortunately, while Nintendo has let us take a pretty in depth look at the device, they have yet to announce an official release date or price point. Luckily, it was just announced that they will be letting us in on both the release date and price of the Nintendo 3DS come September 29th, 2010.

Yes, an announcement for an announcement – that’s Nintendo for you.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 coming to the Wii?

GameStop has recently sent around a series of newsletters filled with information. On one newsletter was a list of various Wii games coming out in the near future one of which was Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Now, before you Wii owners get too excited, GameStop has been known to make mistakes in the past. While there is a chance this could mean that a Wii version of Modern Warfare 2 is just over the horizon there’s a (seemingly) high good chance that it was a typo of sorts.

Until we hear anything out of Activision, we’re going to mark this one off as a rumor.

Nintendo orders New Super Mario Bros. Wii pirate to pay $1.3 million

Have you recently though about pirating a game and sharing it with the internet? If so, you better think twice before you end up like 24-year-old James Burt.

Burt apparently thought it would be a good idea to upload New Super Mario Bros. Wii on November 6th, 2009, 6 days ahead of its scheduled November 12th release. Well, after Nintendo got wind of this they tracked down Mr. Burt and slapped him with a hefty lawsuit.

The outcome? $1.3 million including $100,000 worth of Nintendo’s legal fees. Bummer.

Rock Band: Queen on its way?

Riding the coattails of the Beatles’s own Rock Band release, Queen guitarist Brian May revealed in a BBC interview that a separate expansion tailored to Queen’s own music may well follow in its wake. He referred to his inclusion in Lego Rock Band as “the ultimate accolade”, and when pressed for comment about the possibility of a Queen-dedicated Rock Band titled, May said, “yes, we’re into it, we think it may happen.”

Now, maybe I’m not the best candidate to pontificate on this notion, since I’ve never been a huge fan of Queen’s music myself. But it seems to me that with the addition of 10 Queen tracks to the Rock Band Music Store by the end of the month, their most well-known and culturally relevant songs will have already been mined. Unless you get excited at the prospect of jamming out to obscurities like “Radio Ga Ga” and “Teo Torriate”, I guess it would be hard to get all that hyped-up.
