Rockstar Twitter Contest Puts Your Face in Max Payne 3

After a near decade long hiatus Rockstar’s Max Payne franchise is finally set for a reboot with Max Payne 3. From the looks of it, Max Payne 3 will be a very welcome addition to the series. Seeing how the last game we saw from the Max Payne series was Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne in 2003, gamers can expect a major boost in tech as was displayed quite some time ago in a tech demo (which you can view here).
Max Payne 3 is slated to launch in March of this year which means it’s about time for Rockstar to start the hype train. And what better way to start the hype train than with a contest? Rockstar has just announced they will be holding a Max Payne 3 contest that won’t gift you with money, fame or beautiful woman but instead, something much better. That’s right, lucky contestants will actually get a chance to have their face immortalized in the game’s multiplayer.
So far, Rockstar has picked 4 winners as made evident by the above image but fret not as there is still room for 4 more. To enter the contest all you have to do is follow @RockstarGames on Twitter and tweet out anything you deem worthy of their attention with #MaxPayne3 included somewhere in said tweet. Sounds easy enough but with such ease is sure to come an onslaught of contestants.
If you’re willing to fare the competition and want some more info, that can be acquired here.

Modern Warfare 3 Maps Incoming, Lots of Them

Activision has struck gold many times in the past with franchises such as Guitar Hero but it’s hard to find a franchise as popular as Call of Duty. Spanning a massive amount of titles and many different consoles, Call of Duty has gone on to become the de facto FPS game putting others to shame in terms of sales numbers.
Modern Warfare 3, the franchise’s latest release, is no different selling a massive 6.5 million copies during the first 24 hours it was on the market. But, if you thought Activision would be satisfied with making a mere $400 million in 24 hours, you would be sadly mistaken.
A lot of talk has circulated in regards to future DLC for the game. In the past, Activision has taken it upon themselves to release various DLC packs (mostly consisting of multiplayer maps) for Call of Duty titles. Well, it seems that they are looking to ramp this up considerably with Modern Warfare 3 by releasing a massive 20 DLC packs in the next 9 months.
The first content pack will be made available on January 24th for Xbox Live gamers who subscribe to Call of Duty: Elite containing two maps dubbed Liberation and Piazza. Furthermore, those who subscribe to said service can expect at least monthly installments of these downloadable packs.
This is all fine and dandy, but there’s been virtually no word on when PC, PS3 and non Call of Duty: Elite subscribers can get access to the any of this content. We’ll keep you posted as more information is made available. In the mean time check out a trailer for the first Modern Warfare 3 DLC pack after the break.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Hits #1 on Japanese Sales Charts

Call of Duty is without a doubt the most popular FPS franchise on the market today. This is proven by the fact that everytime a new addition is released records are broken and boatloads of cash are made. However, if you’re a CoD devotee you may think that only the Western world is into the game. But, if you were to think such a thing you would be terribley wrong.
The reason we say this is because it was just made known taht MW3 has topped the Japanese sales charts. That’s right, a game that doesn’t involve fighting or role playing elements is now on top of the Japanese sales charts. If anything, this further proves the fact that Call of Duty has become a behemoth that will be hard to topple.
Then again, if MW4 is anything like MW3 (which, in turn, is exactly like MW2) we may have a problem.

Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary Now Available

Originally introduced in 2001 with the launch of Microsoft’s Xbox, Halo has gone on to become the console’s flagship franchise. Staying exclusive to the Xbox even now, Halo currently has 5 different titles (counting Halo 3: ODST) that fall into the first person shooter genre developed by Bungie. A 6th game was released in 2009 by Ensemble Studios dubbed Halo Wars which featured real time strategic gameplay much like Age of Empires, Command & Conquer or StarCraft.
Following the launch of Halo: Reach which you may or may not be a fan of Bungie announced that they would be throwing in the towel and moving on to bigger and better things. Luckily Microsoft recognized the value of the Halo brand and shifted development to a newly formed studio named 343 Industries. While we won’t see 343 Industries big Halo entrance until sometime next year with the release of Halo 4 we do get to see what they are capable of today thanks to the launch of Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary Edition.
If you’re a diehard Halo fan you’ll know that the original Halo has long been considered the best going on to be the seed for competitive gaming leagues such as Major League Gaming. Due to this 343 Industries decided to remake the original game and give it a considerable amount of improvements.

Halo: Anniversary Edition to Feature Kinect Compatibility

Halo is without a doubt one of the most popular franchise exclusives Microsoft currently has for the Xbox ecosystem. First released in 2001 alongside the launch of the original Xbox, Halo: Combat Evolved spawned a phenomenon that would see each successive title through to massive sales and enough hype you would think it was an Apple product.
Now that Halo: Reach (the series’ 4th iteration) has been on the market for quite some time gamers everywhere are wondering when they will be able to get their hands on the next installment now that development is in the hands of 343 Industries. During E3, the studio announced that they would in fact be bringing not one but two Halo titles to market in the next 2 years – one being Halo 4 and the other, Halo: Anniversary Edition.
Halo 4 isn’t slated for release until later in 2012 so we’ll hold off on that one for now but Halo: Anniversary Edition is due out later this year. If you’re not familiar with the game it’s essentially Halo: Combat Evolved with updated graphics and online co-op. The game is set to features some cool points such as the ability to turn off the new graphics on the fly and switch back to the tried and true originals.
Anyways, seeing how it’s a remake of a game we’re very familiar with there’s not much we don’t know about Halo: Anniversary Edition, or so we thought. It seems that a Microsoft’s very own Phil Spencer has went on record as saying Halo: Anniversary Edition will include compatibility with the company’s Xbox 360 Kinect motion controller. Before you get too upset make note that this is a completely optional addition and will not affect the game’s core play but instead add a new method of play to the already iconic game.
How deeply Microsoft will implement Kinect is any one’s guess as they could do something as simple as letting you scroll through the menus utilizing the motion controller all the way to letting you run and gun using your body as the controller. We’ll have to wait and see what they come up with – Halo: Anniversary Edition is due out exclusively for the Xbox 360 on November 15, 2011.

Activision Releases Modern Warfare 3 Teaser Videos
When it comes to the FPS genre the current undisputed king (when it comes to sales) is Activison’s Call of Duty franchise. Each time an entry into the CoD series is released it manages to post extremely impressive sales numbers and give gamers the same gameplay they’ve come to know and love. Of course, some have argued that each successive entry isn’t much different than the previous, but we’ll save that for another story.
While Call of Duty: Black Ops unsurprisingly sold like hot cakes, everyone knows that the real title we’re waiting for is none other than Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. Up until now Activision has been very quiet about the game but that’s finally come to an end. Just recently Activision has released a series of teaser videos for Modern Warfare 3 that, you guessed it, show virtually nothing more than a logo.
On the flip side of things it’s nice to know that Modern Warfare 3 is finally official which means we’re sure to see a whole slew of new information hit the scene as time goes on.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Weekly Sales Dip 85% Following Launch Craze

First person shooters are without a doubt one of the most popular video game genres on the market. Out of all the different titles that fall into this category, Activision’s Call of Duty continues to impress time and time again in terms of sales numbers. If you’ve been paying attention, you’ll know that the most recent release (Call of Duty: Black Ops)
Well, it looks like the hype has died down as reports have begun to surface that say the weekly sales of Call of Duty: Black Ops have dropped a massive 85% in the UK. Of course, this is to be expected as at this point, everyone has most likely already bought it.
However, this begs the question – will each reoccurring Call of Duty be as popular as the last or will the franchise eventually die off? Only time will tell.

How to Get Unlimited Harriers in Modern Warfare 2

While we don’t encourage cheating in any way shape or form, the number of glitches found in the Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer is getting a bit out of hand. So, we bring you the unlimited Harrier glitch because the more people that exploit this, the faster Infinity Ward will patch it.
“Glitch spawns unlimited harriers – you can have a max of 9 in the air at once – just stand back and keep calling them in until you’ve got a nuke or
1. Equip the following load out (must be the same)
M16 + Holographic sight – not really needed but some weapons it doesn’t work – M16 is confirmed.
AT4-HS Launcher
Tactical Insertion
Smoke Grenade*Killstreaks* Just make sure you’ve equipped the Care package – doesn’t matter about 2 and 3.
2. Run around and kill 4 people until you’ve got the care package.
3. First equip the care package then in the following order: Equip the Tactical Insertion, just before its light animation (as it catches) press LB followed by Y then hold the right trigger.
4. The rocket will fire and you’ll hear the harrier sound notification, select the harrier and place it on the map – as you’ve placing it on the map hold the DPAD right button.
5. Once you’ve called in the harrier if you’ve kept the DPAD right held down you’ll hear the harrier sound notification again – repeat step 4 over and over again until you’ve got 9 harriers in the air.
6. To repeat after all 9 harriers have left go back to step 2.”

New Left 4 Dead 2 Trailer leaked
Dunno how exactly this Left 4 Dead 2 video got leaked, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Valve themselves began its viral progression purely to entice us for the CGI carnage that’s sure to come.
It might not contain actual in-game footage but it’s worth it simply for the entertainment value… which basically translates to exploding zombie heads… enjoy.
