First Modern Warfare 3 DLC Not Requiring Call of Duty: Elite Hits Xbox Live for 1200 Microsoft Points

Fans of the Call of Duty franchise know that a game’s initial purchase is only the beginning. This, of course, is due to the fact that Activision has taken it upon themselves to bombard gamers with many different DLC packs complete with new multiplayer maps and other content. The company has even gone as far as debuting the paid-for Call of Duty: Elite service which will allow gamers access to a wide array of content for a single flat-rate fee (in this case, $50).

But, what’s one to do who doesn’t want to pay for Call of Duty: Elite but does want access to this content. At this point, it seems like they’re going to have to wait. Just today it’s been made known that a DLC pack priced at 1200 Microsoft Points has hit Xbox Live that bundles together content Call of Duty: Elite subscribers have had access to for a few months now. This pack, dubbed DLC Collection 1, brings with it 4 different multiplayer maps and 2 brand new Spec Ops missions for you to enjoy.

If you get a chance to check out the pack be sure to let us know how it goes.

Just Dance Franchise Tops 25 Million

When originally released many thought if Microsoft’s Kinect would be marked off as a gimic like other motion controlled systems we’ve seen in the past. However, now that Kinect has been on the market for quite some time it’s easy to see that it has a bright future. Not only does Microsoft have plans to integrate the technology into their Windows desktop platform but the games already available for Kinect are doing surprisingly well.

One you may not think to be doing better than others, Just Dance, seems to be a poster child for Kinect success. Ubisoft has just taken center stage to let us know that the entire Just Dance franchise is already at 25 million total sales. For those who aren’t aware, Just Dance currently has 3 titles in the normal Just Dance line, 2 in the Just Dance Kids line and one in the Just Dance Summer Part line making for 6 different titles.

While it’s not much when compared to heavy hitters like Call of Duty, it’s definitely a promising sign for the entire Kinect platform.

Rockstar Twitter Contest Puts Your Face in Max Payne 3

After a near decade long hiatus Rockstar’s Max Payne franchise is finally set for a reboot with Max Payne 3. From the looks of it, Max Payne 3 will be a very welcome addition to the series. Seeing how the last game we saw from the Max Payne series was Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne in 2003, gamers can expect a major boost in tech as was displayed quite some time ago in a tech demo (which you can view here).

Max Payne 3 is slated to launch in March of this year which means it’s about time for Rockstar to start the hype train. And what better way to start the hype train than with a contest? Rockstar has just announced they will be holding a Max Payne 3 contest that won’t gift you with money, fame or beautiful woman but instead, something much better. That’s right, lucky contestants will actually get a chance to have their face immortalized in the game’s multiplayer.

So far, Rockstar has picked 4 winners as made evident by the above image but fret not as there is still room for 4 more. To enter the contest all you have to do is follow @RockstarGames on Twitter and tweet out anything you deem worthy of their attention with #MaxPayne3 included somewhere in said tweet. Sounds easy enough but with such ease is sure to come an onslaught of contestants.

If you’re willing to fare the competition and want some more info, that can be acquired here.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 Demo Now Available on Xbox 360 & PS3

Final Fantasy has been one of the longest running RPG franchises on the market today. Not only do they have a massive 13 titles that fall into the main line encompassing both MMORPG and single player experiences but they’ve also been known to make sequels of specific titles. Final Fantasy X was the first example of this with Final Fantasy X-2 and now Final Fantasy XIII has gotten the same treatment with, you guessed it, Final Fantasy XIII-2.

While the game won’t officially be out in North America until January 31st, those who want to get down early can do so. The reason I say this is because a Final Fantasy XIII-2 demo is now available for both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Gamers will take control of Noel and Serah within the Bresha Ruins where they will face off against Atlas – one of the game’s bosses.

If you’re indecisive on whether or not you want to grab the game, this is a perfect way you can get down without spending any cash. If you get a chance to give it a go let us know how the experience is in the comments below.

Modern Warfare 3 Maps Incoming, Lots of Them

Activision has struck gold many times in the past with franchises such as Guitar Hero but it’s hard to find a franchise as popular as Call of Duty. Spanning a massive amount of titles and many different consoles, Call of Duty has gone on to become the de facto FPS game putting others to shame in terms of sales numbers.

Modern Warfare 3, the franchise’s latest release, is no different selling a massive 6.5 million copies during the first 24 hours it was on the market. But, if you thought Activision would be satisfied with making a mere $400 million in 24 hours, you would be sadly mistaken.

A lot of talk has circulated in regards to future DLC for the game. In the past, Activision has taken it upon themselves to release various DLC packs (mostly consisting of multiplayer maps) for Call of Duty titles. Well, it seems that they are looking to ramp this up considerably with Modern Warfare 3 by releasing a massive 20 DLC packs in the next 9 months.

The first content pack will be made available on January 24th for Xbox Live gamers who subscribe to Call of Duty: Elite containing two maps dubbed Liberation and Piazza. Furthermore, those who subscribe to said service can expect at least monthly installments of these downloadable packs.

This is all fine and dandy, but there’s been virtually no word on when PC, PS3 and non Call of Duty: Elite subscribers can get access to the any of this content. We’ll keep you posted as more information is made available. In the mean time check out a trailer for the first Modern Warfare 3 DLC pack after the break.

Diablo 3 Definitely Coming to Consoles?

Diablo 3 is one of the year’s most anticipated games. Not only has the Diablo franchise been one of the most iconic online dungeon crwalers of all time but its’ been nearly a decade since the last title was released. Unfortunately for us, Blizzard has pulled the usual card keeping very quiet in regards to a release date for the game.

While we already know that Diablo 3 will obviously be released for the PC, we’ve heard rumors that it would also be making its way to consoles. Well, it seems that Blizzard has officially confirmed this today. As the story goes, a Twitter user contacted Blizzard’s Micah ‘Bashiok’ Whipple via Twitter asking if the game will make its way to consoles to which Whipple replied:

Yup. Josh mosqueira is lead designer for the Diablo console project.

Of course, he didn’t exactly say that Diablo 3 as we’ve come to know it will be making its way to consoles nor did he mention what consoles the game will be making its way to. Either way, it seems very likely that we will see the Diablo franchise make the jump to consoles at some point in the near future.

Xbox 720, PS4 & Wii U at E3 2012?

There has been quite a bit of rumbling as of late regarding the next generation of home video game consoles despite executives from both Microsoft and Sony reaffirming that the current generation still has a few years left. However, due to the fact that Nintendo’s next generation Wii U is quickly approaching many have hypothesized that both Microsoft and Sony will hurry things along.

Now, while the Wii U is expected to launch this year it’s safe to say that neither the PS4 or Xbox 720 will as they’ve yet to be officially announced. However, as you’re sure to know, towards the middle of the year is E3. According to recent rumors both Microsoft and Sony will at least be touching on their next generation of consoles. Does this mean we will actually see said consoles in the flesh? Potentially not but even a whisper of their existence will give us quite the ray of hope.

Stay tuned as we keep you posted.
